Whereas the delegates of His Majesty’s Governments in the United Kingdom, the Dominion of Canada, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State and Newfoundland, at Imperial Conferences holden at Westminster in the years of our Lord nineteen hundred and twenty-six and nineteen hundred and thirty did concur in making the declarations and resolutions set forth in the Reports of the said Conferences:

And whereas it is meet and proper to set out by way of preamble to this Act that, inasmuch as the Crown is the symbol of the free association of the members of the British Commonwealth of Nations, and as they are united by a common allegiance to the Crown, it would be in accord with the established constitutional position of all the members of the Commonwealth in relation to one another that any alteration in the law touching the Succession to the Throne or the Royal Style and Titles shall hereafter require the assent as well of the Parliaments of all the Dominions as of the Parliament of the United Kingdom:

And whereas it is in accord with the established constitutional position that no law hereafter made by the Parliament of the United Kingdom shall extend to any of the said Dominions as part of the law of that Dominion otherwise than at the request and with the consent of that Dominion:
And whereas it is necessary for the ratifying, confirming and establishing of certain of the said declarations and resolutions of the said Conferences that a law be made and enacted in due form by authority of the Parliament of the United Kingdom:

And whereas the Dominion of Canada, the Commonwealth of Australia, the Dominion of New Zealand, the Union of South Africa, the Irish Free State and Newfoundland have severally requested and consented to the submission of a measure to the Parliament of the United Kingdom for making such provision with regard to the matters aforesaid as is hereafter in this Act contained:
Now, therefore, be it enacted by the King's most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:―

||[[영국|연합왕국]], [[캐나다 자치령]], [[호주 자치령|호주 연방]], [[뉴질랜드 자치령]], [[남아프리카 연방]], [[아일랜드 자유국]], [[뉴펀들랜드 자치령|뉴펀들랜드]]의 정부 대표단은 1926년과 1930년 웨스트민스터에서 개최된 제국회의에서 그 회의록에 게재된 선언과 결의안의 채택에 동의하였고:

국왕 폐하께서는 영연방 회원국들의 자유로운 결사의 상징이고 이들 국가는 국왕 폐하께 대한 단일한 충성으로 단결되어 있으므로 왕위의 승계나 그 경칭에 관한 법률을 개정하는 데에는 [[영국 의회|연합왕국 의회]]와 모든 자치령의 의회로부터 동의를 얻어야 한다는 것이 이들 영연방 회원국의 확립된 헌법적 관습에 부합함을 이 법 전문에 선언하는 것이 적절하고 합당하며:

[[영국 의회|연합왕국 의회]]가 제정한 어떠한 법률이라도 그 자치령의 요구와 동의가 있는 경우를 제외하고는 다른 자치령에까지 적용될 수 없다는 것이 그 확립된 헌법적 관습이고:

그 회의의 특정 선언과 결의를 비준하고 확정하고 확립하기 위하여는 [[영국 의회|연합왕국 의회]]의 권한으로 적당한 형식의 법률을 제정하여야 하며:

[[영국|연합왕국]], [[캐나다 자치령]], [[호주 자치령|오스트레일리아 연방]], [[뉴질랜드 자치령]], [[남아프리카 연방]], [[아일랜드 자유국]], [[뉴펀들랜드 자치령|뉴펀들랜드]]는 각각 앞선 문제들에 관하여 이 법 각 규정들로 포함되는 내용에 대한 법률안을 연합왕국 의회에 제출하여 줄 것을 요구하고 동의하였으므로:

이에 [[조지 5세|국왕 폐하]]의 지극하신 위엄으로 이 의회에 집회한 [[영국 귀족원|귀족원]]과 [[영국 서민원|서민원]] 의 주상(奏上)과 동의 그리고 그 권한에 따라 다음과 같은 법률을 제정한다:―||
